It has come to our notice that in a memorandum is-
sued by your Chamber on German trading in llongkong, we are
referred to as the London firm of Kesara, Sander Wieler & Co.
This misstatement is aggravated by the remarks that
we are registered as British, but do not seem to realise the
situation, and that it would appear from our letters that we
are under the impression that the war makes no difference and
that our China associates will be able to carry on "business
as usual. H
We are at a loss to imagine what excuse you will
put forward for this callous attack upon us, which, issued in
a confide tial memorandum, might have escaped our attention,
and passed unchallenged.
As xxx the first object of your Chamber is doubtles:
the furtherance of British interests in the Colony, we must
assume that the paragraph in question is the result not of
malice prepense but of regrettable ignorance of facts. We
you would point out therefore for your guidance, and beg/to take
careful note of it, that ours is a British Company whose two
sole directors are British subjects; and that the house has
